RE: Cloudland Canyon SP - Best Time of Year to go?

We went on a day trip to Cloudland Canyon State Park last month....It was very, very pretty. I think fall is a great time to go...I belive fall and spring would be best.

Hunting Island State Park, SC is a terrific campground and park. Your doggies will love the beach since they are welcome there.

RE: Jerking motion while pulling a fifth-wheel

When we first went from a TT to a 5'er we were not happy because of the "chucking" we got when hitting expansion joints in the roads....we added firestone airbags to the truck and it really cushioned the ride a lot so that the chucking wasn't as annoying.

RE: Crusier 5th wheel

:R Everybody has an opinion. That doesn't make it a fact.

RE: FDR & High Falls

We LOVED F.D.R....I think it would be beautiful right now with the fall colors of the leaves and also I think springtime would be lovely...but great year round. It has a mountainous feel. Although some campground loops are small, we had no problem with a 32' 5th wheel, I think we were in loop 5(I think !) We enjoyed the Little White House and Dowdell's Knob...FDR and the surrounding area is great !

RE: 2008 Holiday Rambler Savoy 29RKLX

Well only you can decide but we sure do love our Crossroads Cruiser 29RK...we have had 2 Cruisers(1st a TT and now a 5'er for 2 years). We have had no major problems with either. We love the fact that our Cruiser isn't real heavy or real tall and also Crossroads has a 2-year warranty. We have a Husky 16k slider hitch and have had no problems, good hitch. We added firestone airbags to the truck to smooth the ride. Happy Camping.

RE: Crusier 5th wheel

We're on our 2nd Cruiser...had a TT and have now had our 5'er for 2 years....have had no major problems and I would buy another Crossroads product in a heartbeat.

RE: Lake Lanier - Where's the water?

Actually, the "faulty gauge" story did happen a couple of years ago resulting in a LOT of water being released in error, however after that we received abundant rainfall and the lake was actually over full at one time, so that didn't affect the low water levels we have now. I don't know all of the details but I know we are involved in lawsuits with Florida and Alabama regarding the amount of water being released from Lake Lanier....Apparently, the COE is required to send a certain amount downstream to save the mussels and other wildlife regardless of the amount of rain we receive. Personally, I feel that the tremendous growth around here is a big part of the problem. Too many houses being built and too many people !!

RE: feedback wanted.

We have been more than happy with the two Crossroads Cruisers we have had. We knew we didn't want anything any heavier or any taller than the Cruiser, but you may not be concerned about weight/height. We also like that Crossroads has a two-year warranty instead of 1-year. We love our Cruiser.

RE: Where to go? All booked up......

I also vote for Blythe Island...very nice campground...next option would be a little further south at Crooked River State Park in St. Mary's. Blythe Island is a great park.

RE: Gulfstream Conquest or Starcraft Travel Star

I can't speak on a 2006 model, however we had a 2000 Starcraft TravelStar for 6 years and never had any problems with it. It was a great camper. Starcraft has always made a good product in my opinion and has been around for a very long time.

RE: Lake Oconee, Lake Sinclair, GA

Georgia Power operates several campgrounds on these lakes. I have not been to them but here is their website. Hope this helps a little. http://www.georgiapower.com/lakes/home.asp

RE: Site size for hybrid at Blackrock State park

We have only been to Blackrock on a day trip on two occassions...the road is very steep, winding and narrow...we did see a few small class C's and pop-ups in the campground, but would not go there with a larger camper..but that's just a personal opinion. There is some beautiful scenery there. Another option for you would be to stay at a close-by State Park and go to Blackrock for a day trip. Just a suggestion.
